District residents will have three new sites, starting this weekend, to get the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine.

Mayor Muriel Bowser and Health Director LaQuandra Nesbitt announced Thursday that the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Northwest, the Providence Health System in Northeast and the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Southeast will be able to inoculate residents with the one-dose J&J vaccine, which was recently approved for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration.

Bowser said the sites will be appointment-only. Appointments must be made through the online portal at vaccinate.dc.gov or through the District’s call center, the mayor said.

Two other vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech, both of which require two doses, are already in use.

As of Friday, D.C. has administered roughly 165,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine, with 4.2% of city residents fully vaccinated, according to the city health department.
